We're done with fast and furious but now we're on the next one.
No there's the fast appears cartoon series on Netflix you guys have to catch up.
That's right that's right that's right that's right that's right that's right that's right and we're back with our favorite the fan favorite.
Mr. Leandre lecture to where?
I think you're new French name.
Welcome back to Leandre Andre Andre I was trying to be Southern.
I've only seen other other black people named Andre hey hey remember that time when you were here and we threw you in as a host position.
We had some car issues we just made you it was.
It was normal.
No no I mean technically it should be like whenever I'm gone Andre will yeah I was with it you currently hold the title for only.
Yeah.
I've ever had it's been regulars myself and then like you like that's the reason I'm sitting over here I don't like I like being control.
You were a little bit upset.
I like I like that CJ is in control I like not being in control we're alternating episodes now this is this first ones that CJ's episode.
I lost control my mic just.
No that's your headphones your mic so works.
My head my hair is just but we can hear you can you all hear me yeah so we're we're gonna get right in silver because season three is all about action.
So let's just we're gonna jump right into it with like you know I'm saying he already kind of gave it away.
Did you get?
Well yeah well we're reviewing the movie pitch black when they click this episode it's called pitch black.
That is true.
I don't think anyone's gonna be shocked.
That is true and we I know we got to get rolling but real quick you've been just doing it.
I just got I just got done doing the Apollo and I just got through doing the Apollo.
I did Apollo last week.
Did you get did you get the.
The same man would have no so the Apollo theater in itself is being renovated the whole theater.
Being renovated so where I was was upstairs in the Victorian the big room in the.
The Victorian.
Yeah it's like two new rooms that the Apollo has because the the brand theater is where you rub the log and all that is being.
So I didn't know you rubbed log.
Yeah you so when I was 15 and I got to go up there to New York I was able to go to the Apollo and rub the log and do all that fun stuff.
And this was like a full circle moment for me.
This time I was actually up there and I was on stage to do clock.
And you were on the news early on the news today I was on WS MV for today in Nashville.
So that was fun so shots out to today in Nashville.
I was in Niles Michigan.
Nice. Nice underground last comedy club in nice.
Oh like up there really good but it's like it was like southern food with like Midwestern accents like.
I mean like it to I mean literally I was there over Easter and like there was a big Easter brunch on the Sunday before we left to come back.
I mean it was I mean it was lots of I mean maybe southern food.
Then the people talking to you had made a western.
All I see was just saying yeah good.
I had a I went Easter egg hunting.
Was that was that you were on the news for?
No no no no no I was on the news for comedy but me and my friends I went to two Easter egg hunts and then my friends mom did a Easter egg hunt for us.
So we hunted.
Was it like an adult Easter absolutely.
When you when you open it's like it was candy and then and you it was candy and then we hunted candy and liquor.
I love that.
Yeah.
Well many liquor by was it.
I was an adult Easter egg hun could get get fun.
Oh yeah.
And then every time you open an egg it's a gift card.
Yeah well the golden prize was a gift card.
Yeah.
One of my friends boyfriends you wait.
A adult Easter egg is like you get gold.
Yes.
You have the egg you have like climb.
I agree.
So in the house.
Yeah really.
They shingles.
You're not.
Yeah.
Not getting all my shingles.
You're not getting all my shingles.
If I and if you can't find it it's mine.
You're not getting all my shingles.
I just got my shingles.
Speaking of shingles.
I'm excited.
I know that has nothing to do with anything but.
Responsor today.
I get to eat my twigs we've been holding this for like how long?
Oh months.
It was it was it was lent.
It was like a Easter and I came here and we're in we're in May now.
So now I can eat my I can yeah and I'm flattered that you brought it to eat.
We're going on the bug.
I think we've made fun of it for several weeks.
Exactly so I get to eat it hopefully it's not stale if it stale is going to be made in it.
No twigs doesn't get stale just melt.
Nope it doesn't.
Oh see you know.
There we go.
You're going to you're going to lead the podcast while you two twig clicks.
Love it.
I am.
Love this movie guys.
Oh oh I get it.
It's like I'm going to eat my twigs you guys keep keep it rolling.
Okay so we're in pitch black.
This is my first time watching the we're watching the whole series of Chronicle.
We're watching the Chronicles of Riddick.
We're going to watch series.
But so this has been my first watch through.
I know it was a big hit.
It was and I was under a tree or something I didn't know it was it under a rock.
I don't think under a tree.
That's like it sounds nice you know like I was under a rock and I didn't see it until now.
And so what I was wondering is for you guys is this is this review movie?
Have we seen pitch black and all that before?
I haven't seen pitch black since it very first came out.
Okay.
So yeah what about you?
Because of Chronicles of Ridd butcher bay I've watched this movie like 20 times with the director's commentary
with Spanish on with like I just love it.
You can tell this is made with like love of like star wars in.
There's gonna be all this sort of stuff.
And if you read all these other books that I'm not going to read or come books that I did.
And it all kind of makes its own little gumbo.
Hey love I love that this is the whole universe going into this.
And especially once I knew I was eventually going to be covering this movie.
I went out of my way to not watch it because I wanted to have the new experience here with the podcast.
Right.
But I love that there's like this whole world to it.
And especially next week when we get into the Chronicles of Riddick that one has serious star wars.
Right.
And people need to realize that they're not the same thing.
pitch black and the Chronicles of Riddick are not the same.
They're the same line but they're not the same.
I wish they just did pitch black called it pitch black too.
I like like brand loyalty.
I like sticking with something.
Yeah.
Definitely definitely.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
The pitch black was supposed to be a one and done movie.
In fact the ending originally was supposed to be an diesel character dying.
Which would have worked which would have been a great.
This was his.
He was just as this is breakout movie.
Yeah.
Was it this?
No, this was.
Is this was the one that's wasn't.
Yeah.
He also did.
Right.
But Ryan was that after this or what that was?
He was also.
Yeah.
This this movie solidified.
Yeah.
Background.
Yeah.
This was who like I think solidified who.
Yeah.
Vin Diesel was.
Yeah.
So and one thing I liked about this movie it.
It sounds me and when I say it but when it comes to acting you could see him try.
And what I mean.
Yeah.
Actually acting.
So you know before this anything Vin Diesel I was saying is like the latest faster and furious is where I feel like he's just grunting and plots happening around him.
Yeah.
And then I was like going into the later at least in the next movie next week we'll talk more about it.
We got a little bit less Vin Diesel acting but this one I really felt like it was like he was he was earning the fact that this was a breakout.
Absolutely.
I totally agree with that.
Like from soon as he got on stage.
Oh, stage.
Yeah.
As soon as he got on screen with his with on you know saying with his eyes.
His ring light eyes.
I don't get what I'm saying.
But he didn't see any he's covered bandage of.
Yeah.
But you know when this movie came out for a while they had like special brand contacts that were like to post to make your eyes look like that.
Like the markets like you can you can.
I did not.
You could go watch pitch black and then go buy some magic contacts.
Nice.
Nice.
Nice.
Let's let's get into this overview.
So it says and I personally like this.
It's pitch black or how not to pick a vacation spot.
How do you feel about that?
Yeah.
Well, not to pick a vacation.
What an awful planet.
We could have crash landed on literally anything better thing better.
But you know what this is not a good so a spaceship full of the worst look ever crash on the worst full of the worst look ever.
Crash lands on a planet that looks like Australia.
If you turn up the heat and forget the sunscreen am I.
And also time out why was why was like a commercial aircraft and also a yeah.
It was on board.
Well, yes.
There's people if you look at the background there is an escaped aress of like one of the richest families ever.
That was the lady that's Claudia Black.
Yeah.
And she escapes with like that Aboriginal dude.
Was she the one that was she the Bernette that died midway.
I really liked her character.
She is awesome.
She's like in far escape.
Yeah.
Which is she's like a sci-fi convention.
Yeah, she's ridiculous.
And like everybody in it has like an incredible or like you like jet not everyone has a mysterious thing like like riddock.
Even though it's explained a push me.
Everyone like Jack's trying to escape stuff of the boy girl and everyone is a subversion of what you would expect.
I would agree with it.
She would be a girl.
Yeah.
Yeah, by the way, she is my so far of the two movie that she is by far my favorite character of the well and it's because of the second movie.
This movie that she was fine, but like the second movie when we'll talk more about that next week.
I don't know you'll have to tune in.
Yeah.
What were you about to say?
I just love when androgyte is a plot device.
Yeah.
When you know I don't know.
But it's also like I have to hide from all these right.
She was keeping herself safe from all the creepers.
I agree.
She went.
She is a plot point.
I agree.
All right.
Let me get back to it.
Everyone's thinking at least it's well at least it's sunny until they realize it's always sunny.
Because this planet has refunds.
Re-sunds.
It's incredible.
Yeah, sons.
Spio 5,000 will not save you here.
Okay.
So meet our heroes and the anti-heroes.
Riddick buff bald convict with glow in the dark eyeballs because apparently prison health care covers night vision surgery.
Fry the pilot with a massive.
I'm not paid enough for this energy.
You can't tell me he did not have that type of energy.
Okay.
This is just saying.
Don'ts the guy who looks like a cop acts like a cop but totally isn't the good guy because he ain't shit.
Iman and his crew just trying to make it to mecca but accidentally ended up in a monster movie.
What a weird mission trip.
What a weird church make like church.
Right.
And a few others because you won't remember you won't remember because for alert or monster snacks.
Everything goes okay.
Ish until bomb.
Eclipse time.
Suddenly all these cute little shadows started to flying murder bats from hill and then guess what these things come out of the dark and then guess what else.
The planet just turned into what.
Say it with me.
Bitch black.
Okay so naturally the person who can see anything is Mr. night vision Riddick who somehow is the best and the worst person to leave a survival mission.
They could not have crashed landed on a better planet for him.
So screwed on any other planet exactly.
Flashlight dies.
And have the plan becomes follow Riddick but don't let him kill you.
So the group plays the smegame of don't get eaten probably through case fighting monsters arguing over trust and watching Riddick flip between hero and I might leave you here to die.
Was that a good Riddick?
That was perfect.
But also like so tree at the whole time you're like I mean I like you might go.
He might leave you and not know much about the movie when I was watching it. I thought at first the plot was gonna be him just sneakily kill me and see here we go.
And then we got what's the moral of the story don't crash your spaceship on a planet that is designed by Tim Burton and really stuck on a bad day to always pack extra batteries.
That's for anything out there.
And if your tour guide has glow in the dark eyes and a criminal record maybe just don't.
Leave them alone and that is the overview of Christmas. I don't know if you liked it.
Love it.
How did you feel?
It's close to what the trailer said.
Did it get it?
Did it get it?
It's paradise but when night falls, you know it's bad.
It's bad.
That's real.
You're not gonna find anyone who does. I mean if you don't like this movie and fingers and I want to go over this besides the reviews and we're gonna get into all of that.
I look for kids that actually watch this. I wanted to see what kids how kids felt about this movie like.
I was like kids you know it's an adventure movie.
I just want to see or it's right or I but I wanted to see like you know the kids are watching it like you know this.
I want to see what kids 15 and understand and I actually found some reviews and we're gonna go over that.
Yeah.
And just a second. So I thought that that would be fun to to look at.
So Andre what did you think talk to me?
I showed this to my family and they did not like it.
Well it was like during a family reunion and I was like this is awesome.
What a weird movie to show it a family.
They not everyone has their eyes in and not everyone is.
Can see what's going on on board with like who is what and this is science fiction.
So maybe I picked the wrong time to do it is all but I think the special features changes everything.
I hear you. When you watch the movie he said you love what he loves John.
The glad to die the way he died.
That was cool scene.
He dies like a movie back.
I think.
But in special features you guess this it's like you learn like he's in love with pacing red.
He is fun with it.
I think he's infatuated.
He's chasing a high it's a different.
That was the big part of his character was his a drug addict.
This relationship that I don't you can't really it's like work relationship but also we want to kill each other.
But also like we're kind of respect and like I don't know.
I think he could take them which is like really playing with them.
Yeah.
Brother thing almost.
Would you call it a big brother thing or would you call it a I wouldn't call it a big brother.
I would call it a a frenemy.
Yeah similar situation to like Stockholm syndrome where you've been chasing this person for so long where you two develop a weird relationship.
Yeah.
Just like I picture catch me if you can with Leonardo Leonardo DiCaprio.
Yeah, they built a relationship but the thing is you you set me the extra footage where you can get it.
It's a main.
He's like he's been lighting my phone up with all kinds of good cotton.
Oh, I suck that.
But he has a bunch of different you can go if you went on like the DVD or whatever you could go and click on the different like message logs from this character John or whatever.
And it's all about him tracking reddit.
This is the idea is this before the movie before this is how he caught reddit and what's really interesting is because like you think it's got this weird affatuation of the hasty and reddit.
So all these messages at first are like.
They said him through the you know they are really deep into it. But then but then the message where he let's know it's just I got him.
We can see it's like doing these messages like as he's about to fall asleep and then the day he got him you know was like he had to put.
Yeah, I had to hold a gun to a kids head and stuff.
It was a it was a big day.
By the time he like gets it.
I was like I'm just going to.
Yeah.
He said I was going to explain later tomorrow.
So here's my favorite thing about those two guys and it's it's it's it's something it's kind of fast and furious trivia but it's back from two fast to fears which that actor who played john was also the call out or yeah.
Yeah, that was nice.
He was the lead villain for two fast to fears right and he's a great villain in that too.
And I don't know if you're listening to this help me if this is false comment and rage and all that stuff but.
You know, I read back when we're looking up at two fast to fear is so Vin Diesel and co-houser did not get along in that movie play they did not and so when they called Vin Diesel to try to get him to come back for two to fast to fear is where he said no originally because he was I think he was filming the next riddock movie.
And so what they did was they brought co-houser in.
And it's just kind of it's just kind of this fun rumor that like it was a petty thing like oh you're not going to do this movie will bring them this other actor who you worked with that you didn't get along.
I love a good fun fact like that but I didn't know they didn't get along which makes their chemistry is incredible.
That's all but it doesn't let me in which makes sense because you know in actors really don't get along like you can see it on screen and you could just see like the the mission point is that the she.
I just love the idea that this is very random but he's a you know riddock is first name is Richard no one ever I just want someone to like damn it Richard pass the wrench or something.
No one ever calls the reddit think it is just like a movie cute thing like calling what there's like mayor like someone like John Wayne's name is Mary and yeah like trying to make him humanize yeah instead of a warlord God supersaying that he is becoming.
Yeah next movie he's really takes out it yeah it's it is interesting in the the creepiest part to me that I felt like made no sense was at the very beginning when he's when he breaks out and he's like kind of stalking them.
And he can see piece of her hair.
Close it up is that is there any significance of that other than just being a weirdo.
Pass that okay I know for the first he was going to kill her thank you because it's like she's the pilot and then they get out of here but then it's like oh she's kind of like me.
So she's trying to dirty.
Oh okay so it's like and he likes this whole time because he's he you see him like drink the other guy stop from far away he loves playing with people.
Yeah more than killing because he's a psychopath in the first movie or like a no say it he's psycho you know why don't you want to admit it he's a place he's he's could you not be psychotic when you do that because he's he was he was raised in jails.
Okay get out.
He went to the company which is the army slash government slash bestopia that the world that so he's he's traumatized.
So booge my money back boo.
What?
He's been being a psychopath.
I don't consider him traumatized.
No he likes what he's doing.
He likes it.
He's sick and crazy.
He likes it.
Look I'm gonna tell you some of these reviews.
Okay let's pick this out.
He likes paying.
He likes the like he says he says multiple times a different media that when he was going to get the eyes like surgery is like we could give you paying.
He was like I like paying.
He's a he's a he's a.
Oh that's right.
Okay.
You know.
I mean the class was great.
You had.
Oh you had then you had Cole Hauser.
You had.
Who played Robyn Harris.
Robyn Harris.
I was like Robyn Harris.
How are Rihanna.
Wait what?
Not Rihanna.
Her name is her name is like there's an agent.
Yeah it's good.
Oh name is Rihanna.
It's Rihanna or Rihanna.
Okay.
It's Griffin.
That's who was Jack.
She was great.
Of course my boy Keith David.
What's in it.
I'm looks for bad reviews.
I really did.
Like I like this one.
Pitch black is the criminally underrated film.
Honestly put pitch black up there with films like Alien and Fifth Element.
Ooh.
I liked that this was a it felt like a good was 90s or early 2000.
Early 2000.
I want to say it was right at 2000 right.
It's still like the editing is all.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then like they they dip the film in silver nitrate.
It makes it look like it's all glistening.
Oh that's fun.
I know they did.
I don't care what nobody say.
But I like the I like that the each of the characters even if the small roles were pretty well defined.
And they all had a little story that there's something you mentioned earlier under.
And he's not.
And.
And.
And I'm trying to get to mecca.
Yeah.
And I like that excuse me.
I like.
And and in the next movie.
I don't feel like the characters were as well defined with a few exceptions.
We'll talk about that next week.
But I do feel like another thing I liked about this movie.
Wasn't it was like.
One of a simple plot.
Prash.
So you think they're getting off the.
That's it.
They're not saving the world.
They're not you know like that.
That's what a lot of the reviews were like do it was so simple and good.
Now this was my favorite.
Oh I didn't get through with that one.
I'm sorry.
Yes I know that all accounts is not as as good as other classic sci-fi films.
But I still consider it a classic in one of my favorite films.
The reddit franchise also soft spot in my heart.
Guarantee they do get worse with never it and stomp is but I love what newer and stomp is but I love them.
And the black is the crown jewel even though chronicles is my personal favorite.
This movie started my weightlifting obsession all those years ago.
Almost 40 now and I still left and I love this movie.
It's been a long time since I smelled something but that's one of the best clothes there ever since I watched this.
I've been stocking up on batteries for my flashlights.
About the best and brightest I could find wouldn't want to be caught in the dark with no life.
This movie rocks.
I love the idea but for you on the next review I love the idea that this man watched this movie and his two take a list like I need to work out in case I get stranded on a planet and I need lots of batteries for my flashlights.
This is my speeder.
From my white beater.
You ready for this journey?
This comment goes into what you say is that the best part is every single character except one completely reverses their role during the course of the film.
Riddick is a murdering psychopath told you you passed.
It looks like it.
Ends up being the hero.
The pilot that tried to kill them all in the beginning gives her life for them by the end.
I love that.
The hero cop becomes the villain.
The brave young boy is actually a frightened girl and the cowardly art dealer is up blowing out the fire out of his mouth just despite the monsters before he's even well written role reversal.
Yeah.
And the kids loved it like they were like so this was a great movie but it would frighten the adult road.
Listen, it would frighten those under 15 a great deal.
That sounds like an unknown under 15 year old like it would frighten you if you're under 50.
Yeah, this one says boring dumb action movie not very explicit some atmosphere and scary scenes but not too bad.
I thought it was a fun creative and thrilling movie but film.
This movie is experimental and makes me feel like I can see in the dark.
What does the scary scene I don't know for an I mean getting eaten like that I was kind of shocked.
I guess if you're 13 but didn't scare me could see I could see if I was young and maybe younger than 13 but like watching if you're watching it at a theater like with you know I.
Right like it would be it would be like with all those the monsters coming out like that would I mean it would be fun but like it would I could see it being all scary.
Yeah, they were 13 this one was 13 15.
Yeah boring he said boring disappointing and the other one was 15 he was like a little scary for me.
Yeah, that's the idea of dying a weird way in the mind shaft thing.
Oh, yeah, that man was so dumb.
The only two things he did in that movie going son.
Is this tomorrow like we didn't get enough about them to say otherwise you can you can't.
It's such a delicate balance of you got to make sure they don't do anything bad because then it's like oh they just could die.
Yeah, and you can't make them do anything good and it's like I feel terrible.
I don't want to watch the rest of the movie.
So just I like that I like that the deaths were permanent though right like it like not everyone that started in the movie.
I'm ready to the end and that was part of the thrill of the movie was wondering because right at the beginning you knew.
So these folks are gonna die and it was fun to see.
It was fun to see yeah it was fun to see who's gonna die.
It's not like a ship shot or a meaty with it looks like she goes like I don't know what did it.
I don't I just had to get out of there and survive.
Yeah, honestly she probably was one of my favorite people.
Well she wasn't technically the captain the pilot but she was the pilot.
I didn't like her at first but then that ending when she had a full circle moment where she changed her mind like I was like.
She won me over right there.
I think during the middle she won me over when she was getting like we can't stay here.
Yeah, yeah.
We have to wait for you wait.
She was used to her brain right there.
Like you know what no no no I need you to listen to me and I need you to listen to me now.
I loved that about her.
I love that about her.
She's like all right y'all are just choosing how you're gonna die.
No, I love that.
I really they love that about her.
That goes to tell you about like how well written this movie in script is is because they successfully vote a character that we started off not liking.
She was literally choosing who's gonna die.
Like she was.
She was.
And yeah.
And then in the middle like you said because of the plot and character development you end up being like oh no she looks like I remember I take notes when I watch these movies and I lit and at the time I was kind of thinking she was going to be the main character or whatever.
So I was like I don't like her.
Like I don't and that's the big thing for me is when I write the main character later though you she wins you over she did she was the main character.
I mean changes the most I would say she would be the main character.
Yeah, it's really made besides of she.
Yes, she is the main character in that movie.
I think now when people put it as part of the trilogy they focus on riddock because that that's what they decided to change the script.
They were gonna kill them off at the end.
But then they're like just like with Tokyo drift there was like let's leave an opening you know to see if possible sequel and so they kept him alive.
I would be interesting though if this is like a standalone movie right like if he died then in there and nothing else.
His last line is that riddock is dead on that planet.
Oh, he did supposed to be I'm going on.
Family now, you do say that.
Family.
Nice.
We're family now and we're going to go to some new highly.
And then the next thing is they immediately get taken
by a bounty hunter ship that turns people into frozen statues,
check out dark fury.
We do need to throught that.
We do need to go.
I did not when I planned at the pitch blot, when I planned for this,
all I did long ago to be existed.
Forget about dark fury.
Yeah, we might have to sneak that.
Yeah, we got to that.
Watch it right now.
Yeah, we can't.
We both got stuff to do right after this.
Just put on two times.
CJ, we have another podcast.
We have another podcast right after this.
Do you have any bits for this?
I did, but I thought I was doing bits for the next one.
Are you doing it?
You are.
I am, but I just wanted to know if you did.
I have my bits.
I want to see--
Because first time you left off and did I win or did you win?
Oh, OK.
Well, if we want to be technical about it,
in the Boeman Man episode, I did win.
But in season two, overall--
Oh, did I win or did you win?
CJ did win.
Thank you.
So OK, let's do it for this one.
Let's do-- we'll do-- since the season for me
or we'll do--
We'll do two.
We'll do two bits.
Yeah, right.
And I'll do one and you'll do one for everyone listening.
We're going to-- I'll confess mine.
I'm only going to be able to see.
I usually get three scenes.
And--
I'll give two scenes.
And whoever is not in the scenes,
the other people pick which one they think is the person's
put on the best bit.
And we tell you what the qualifications are.
So I'll go first.
So these are the two weirdest creepiest scenes
in the movie, "Pitch Black," in my opinion.
OK.
One we've already talked about was when he was sniffing
the woman's hair.
And then so there's that one.
And the second one is when you see John--
was the same John--
John?
--and John's--
when you see him injecting the stuff in his eye, which--
by which bother, that was an actor choice.
He said if he's really an addict,
this is how he would do it.
He added that to the script, which is pretty cool.
Anyway, so those are the two scenes,
the "Roggin Your Eye" and the "S sniffing the hair."
For you-- OK, I'll let you go first,
because you're the guest.
So it's the guest what he would throw up at?
Yeah, so--
And so I'm--
Yeah.
Yeah, you're currently-- for this one,
you're guessing what I thought was like the icky-est,
the weirdest, the grossest, the--
Probably the sniffing the hair, because you already mentioned it.
Ooh, OK.
I'm going with the eye.
You know what I?
Yeah, even though he mentioned the hair.
It was sniffing the hair.
Well, the eye is just-- so--
But so technically, we both would get a point for that,
but we're going to say it washes, because it's even--
It would be-- OK.
So now it's your turn.
And what--
OK, so my qualifications for this time
are the ones that maybe do this, because it's a good movie.
Oh, which-- and it's two is only two.
It's the scene where he says, we have to go this way,
and the bat--
he's like, we have to go this way.
Or then the bash just started coming out,
and then it's like--
Oh, good.
Yeah.
Crazy.
Or the fight scene where he said you were born a bad-ass,
John.
And he was with the chains, the gouch, the gauge, the badge,
which one of those scenes--
They gave me the goose bumps.
I feel like if it's not the second one with the fight,
then you're wrong.
Like that's the one I would get with.
He's essentially poat in this whole movie.
Roger Poet.
Actually giving one line, or she's like summing up--
Yeah.
He's like giving-- he's like appraising them and re-eating them.
For the psychopathics killer, he's a--
He's for kills, and he's one without a good reason.
No.
So which one do you say?
Second one.
What do you say?
I say a second one is--
It's the second one.
All right, look at that.
So--
Is the second one?
So that technically means I get a point for this.
Look at my buddy, Maggie.
You take this one for the first look.
We're starting off strong, so that's cool.
Are we going to do it two fast, two fierce rating?
Oh, yeah.
And I'm definitely giving it a two fast.
OK.
You know, I'm going to give it a fast.
I like to the lot, but I don't know if it--
We've talked so highly of it.
I almost want to change my-- but if I'm just
being authentic with my experience that I had,
I'll give it a fast.
I thought I was thought it was a good movie.
Yeah, no.
It's a two fast for me.
You've got to watch it.
You've got to see it.
You can watch this movie 23 years later,
and it will still be a good movie.
Dude, it's two fast because I rewatched the first fast
series, and he is like--
he was going to kill Paul War.
He was good--
Yeah.
He's not--
Thrustable and whatnot.
He is--
He's good.
This is what he's meant.
And then him being a dad of bubble-buff is not the same energy.
And it's like, I feel like--
Yes.
--suited for.
Yes.
--suited for--
--my charismatic miss.
It's just a good--
But what is a better role for him than this?
Oh, just a jinx.
I was about to say it's just a good--
this was such a good role for him.
This was a good, not breakout role,
but just a good, meaty role that showed who he would be.
It might get him to show him a lot of range,
but it showed who he could be as an action or an anti-action hero.
I think this was a fantastic role for him.
I think he--
I mean, I think he really--
this is one of those roles that--
And you can tell because he talks about later
about how into this role in this movie series and everything
it is.
It can't be ever.
Yeah.
I mean, like--
Any other Jones for him?
Now, if you were asking me what better role there is for him,
I would be lying if I didn't say Dominic Dorado.
Oh, no, no, no.
I mean, I would--
I would like--
I just think this movie truly was made for Vin Diesel.
But I don't think the rocket of Duned,
I don't think any actor--
I cannot see any other actor playing with it.
No.
But you know what?
I do think this movie is--
I think this role is perfect for Vin Diesel
because it's--
I feel like it was giving him an option
to like the real life in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign,
which we were talking--
I don't know if we were talking about earlier on this or before this,
but like he's super into Dungeons and Dragons.
I felt like--
I think it's a video game character.
Yeah, like I felt like he--
This was like him living--
living his dreams in his role.
That's a great way to look at it.
So--
He just takes whatever is around him and then
he uses it.
It's like any always picks something simple.
It doesn't pick like the big gun.
And it--
This is nice, man.
He does so much of that knife.
Your chives.
Your shoes.
Your bits, no shoes.
But--
Your chives.
His first weapon in the movie is his leg chains.
Yeah.
Oh.
It's so good.
I forgot about it when we were reading the reviews.
Just to let everyone know, I was listening to this.
Every Tuesday, we post like one of the next movies we're about to--
I am.
On our social media.
And we're always looking for people's feedback.
So if you have opinions and hot takes,
or whether you like it, and that often ends up in one of our episodes.
But it's just a cool way to kind of keep the conversations
about these movies going.
I almost enjoy the conversations I have with people off camera,
almost as much as I enjoy doing it here.
So it just follow us on all the social medias,
the quarter mile podcast that literally everything.
Or if it's like right now, I'm trying to kill it in the Reddit--
Reddit, Reddit, because I'll post there.
And then tons of people have tons of really good opinions
about these movies so far.
I think though, is the third-- is Reddit supposed
to be the worst of the three?
Is that what people say?
Why would--
Literally, there's a stupid sci-fi channel thing
called Into Pitch Black, which is just like a insurance group,
goes down and tries to find Reddit.
And like all the valuables that that Parrot and I had.
And it is-- they get around--
like they have a Vin Diesel back of the head.
Oh.
Yeah.
And they try to get around it so bad.
And but they're also like showing off almost all of the movie
in this shitty behind the scenes.
But it is so bad.
You got--
How bad is it?
I haven't watched it.
It's also shot, but it's also imitating how pitch black is,
with like, the puns and like everything's going in and out
and stuff.
So it's like a K-Mart pitch black.
Well, I don't like that.
And it is like super dark, but it also
shot like at someone's house.
That's fun.
That's a bonus episode.
Not a K-Mart pitch black.
That's something we got to--
We got to revisit that when we visit--
we read the dark theory.
What else you got for us, CJ?
Where are we going?
I mean, this huts me loving this show.
That's it.
I mean, I want to give a shout out to our sponsor.
Yeah, absolutely.
Indeed.
We'll be--
Not to begin with, it's not just in the dragons,
which we just talked about.
Indeed.
Indeed.
He was like, what?
Yeah.
That won't be so cool.
So, Andre, what are you-- coming up.
Not the Apollo, tell you what.
Did he--
Did he--
I'm just a fan of the Sandman taking people off stage.
I did not give you--
No, who did, though?
No one.
I'm not boo.
No one got boo.
That Apollo--
I was at the Apollo.
And--
Come on.
And people take tickets and be like, I'm going--
Oh, yes.
Yes, but they were every--
I opened the show up, and the guy that came after me
was fantastic.
And then the guy who--
He landed--
Sammy--
Yes, Sammy closed it out.
Sammy closed it out, and he's--
He's dupe and funny, so.
I think the Apollo--
they built a good culture there where, yes, people do
pay with the hopes that they can boost someone.
But they're like honest fans.
Like, if they're good, we're going to give them their credit.
And that's what they were like.
If it wasn't funny, they were like, OK, girl, that was--
Some children.
They do, but they didn't boo me.
So-- and I went up there like--
I was like, proud of getting booed.
Like, now some things didn't happen right
before I hit the stage.
Like my fan broke and--
And shit like that.
Well, otherwise, then that-- no, like, I really
had a good spet.
It was great.
People came up and was like, oh, I liked your joke about this
and this.
I was like, wow, you guys were listening.
Yeah, so--
Had to be clean, too.
All right, no.
No, she got to go.
No, I got to be mean.
Well, first.
How well then?
What are you doing?
You're fine.
You're doing good.
OK.
I got to be mean.
So we did mention D&D fitness.
And I do feel the need to let everyone know that,
because a lot of our listeners are here in Nashville.
May 30th and 31st, they're going to be,
I think it's called the Music City Expo.
And there's going to be like arm wrestling and them selling
their stuff.
And there is going to be pretty cool.
And me and CJ and a few other comedians
are going to be in some upcoming reels for them.
Are you guys going to arm wrestle right?
We're going to try to.
Well, of course, if you check our episode notes,
you can only see how to get to their website.
But a lot of cool stuff going on in their world as well,
including more gym reels.
Unfortunately, my gym group character,
they chronicled the rhodictum.
We had another comedian become a better gym group.
Oh, no.
So I'm a new character for the next one.
Which is OK, definitely.
Yeah, I got recast.
In a series?
In a short?
Yep.
OK.
And I--
I can't be angry about it because he's so much better--
his character is so much better than mine
that it's like--
it's not like--
a lot of people say the pitch black riddick was better
than the chronicles of riddick riddick.
There's no one saying that about our two characters.
Yeah.
That's fine.
Start bringing up pitch black as a reference in movie set
to set a godfather and stuff.
Yeah.
That'd be nice.
I'm going to play anyway.
OK.
No.
Time out.
Let's get more information on that.
I'm going to post her, but I left it in the bathroom.
It's a--
With my bathroom?
Where's the dog's eating it probably right now?
It's called Domina, a ridden by a friend of mine,
and that play a bishop of Winchester who
tries to help a young, newly queen, new person become a queen.
Is the first female queen of--
first female really ruler of England,
daughter of Henry I, Matilda.
And then she doesn't last very long.
She gets planted by other people in her family.
But it's going to happen like three days.
You're not going to--
Oh, yeah.
There's no way we're going to find the--
Step one, build a time machine, and then go back in time
and go see Andre's play.
No way.
You're going to find this.
What Mon Hill's church?
You're good.
You're busy.
This week is Mother's Day?
Yeah.
Come on.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Happy Mother's Day to any mom's listening.
If my mom's listening, my mom's listening.
Happy Mommy's Day.
I'm not a mommy, but a happy Mommy's Day.
Andre, you were amazing.
Thank you.
Dude.
Are you going to come back?
Yeah, after playing a "Butcher Bay" again, even though you can't,
physically buy it anywhere.
We need to figure out how to throw in some of these other
riddic things in our podcast, and then we'll bring you back
for one.
Lay the audio book.
And then you'll come.
Talking.
That's why I like the video game so much.
Just then Diesel just talking to you.
Just sounds like devil and God.
It nicks.
What are those?
What are those called?
Is there a thing?
It is.
It is?
Yeah.
Well, demigods.
Demigods.
No, they're not demigods.
It is like a full god.
They're both gods.
Then devil is like an angel.
We will see you coming up.
Let me see.
Let me see.
Chronicles.
We got our next podcast coming out.
Chronicles of riddic.
Who's going to be on that one?
Britt Barnett.
Who I don't know if he's--
It's his first time here.
He's a newer comedian.
He's just a cool guy.
He's excited to have him.
Okay.
Yeah.
Oh, speaking of new podcasts, I'm sorry.
I forgot this.
I'm producing another podcast.
So many of you know that this podcast, the quarter mile podcast, helped me shoot off my brand
is called Quarter Mile Entertainment, which is all about just creating quarter mile moments,
giving freedom and excitement and stuff like that, whether we're doing comedy, whether
we're listening, enjoying ourselves, something like that.
And just giving people like, like, giving experiences, right?
So in part of that is I got the opportunity to produce another podcast from my friend,
Tiffany Harris.
Oh, yeah.
And it has nothing to do with anything in this podcast.
I guess it's polar opposite.
She's got an amazing story in our first episode out now so you can go check it out.
It's called Living Through the Shift.
And Tiffany had to become a young caregiver for her mom.
I got age 30.
She had to really jump into caregiving lifestyle.
And there's a lot of trials with that.
There's a lot of stress with that.
There's a lot of just life that came with that.
And so her podcast is directed to anyone who's going through a similar experience, like,
maybe you're a young caregiver or even if you're an old caregiver.
And there's a lot going on that no one ever really talks about or it often frequents
because this happened in our second and third episode that we hasn't aired yet, but
we'll be out eventually.
Well, oftentimes there's just other stuff that we all deal with.
And it's just kind of her model is like, you're not crazy.
You're just living through a shift and that and it's a really good podcast.
It has nothing to do with fast and furious movies.
But we'll link that you can access that through our quarter mile entertainment website.
If you guys want, check it out.
I love that for her.
Yeah, she's an awesome person.
So make sure you guys please go check that out.
Tiffany Harris.
And I know you can find all you can find her.
We'll link her Instagram and all that stuff up.
Make sure you will link up Andre Churchwells.
Yeah, all his stuff under there.
Make sure you follow us online at all streaming platforms on TikTok, on Facebook, on YouTube,
always on Instagram.
We just thank you so much for just like always supporting us and watching and leaving
comments.
Please, please, please, please, like, share and subscribe.
Tell your friends, like, share, subscribe.
If you would like to be a guest, just always email if you have some, you know, some concern,
some notes or anything like that.
I don't care about them.
I'll just land.
No, no, no, likes, like, share, drop, drop a comment, drop a comment and always live your
life a quarter mile at a time.
We will see you next time once again, shout out to D&D apparel.
They are helping me lose a little bit of this weight.
And that is it.
We'll see you next time, boo.
